This Robby has nothing to do with the robot from Forbidden Planet, but it is a perennial favorite and recalls the days when Tomy not only pioneered domestic robots like Omnibot, but also set the standard for their look and design.
Earlier versions of this very small wind-up featured silver or gold bodies with red or clue domes. This time the color scheme is reversed with red or blue bodies, translucent domes and feet and hands in gold or silver. Wind it up and it makes a mechanical sound and walks forward.
This robot is the most famous of the Tomy white knob wind-ups, which established Tomy as the top maker of miniature wind-ups. Popular since its introduction, this robot is a great addition to any collection, but it also makes a great gift. A great toy at a budget price. Welcome back, Robby!
