Space Explorer Robot. One of the most unusual tin toy robots in design and function. Noted as one of the earliest transforming robots and produced in Japan in the mid 1960's by Yonezawa.
As Space Explorer walks via discs under his feet, his green eyes blink left/right, then Space Explorer stops and closes up into a box - head recesses into body, legs fold into body, and arms close to the sides. After a few seconds, Space Explorer comes to life again, and rises with his expanding arms revealing blinking lighted head once again. When fully expanded, television screen reveals a lenticular astronaut behind the controls. A very impressive toy and in incredibly clean condition with much gloss! SOLD. |
