Better than expected at this price! Me and my boy just love him! The sparks aren't that visible by day but he is still the ultimate wind up! Arrived really quickly too, considering I live in Australia. Thanks guys, we are Very Happy (maybe not my wife, but what do they know?) I can't submit this review without writing at least 500 characters (or so I am told), so there will be a lot of garble following this.

SUPER ROBOT! Based on "Robby" from Forbidden Planet, this guy exemplifies great styling. Basic black paint has a nice gloss; the red hands and feet are an excellent accent.

The clockwork action is solid, withing winding done by a key in the side. There is an on/off toggle switch on the chest. Walking action is steady with the legs shuffling--helped along by 2 small wheels on the bottom of each foot.

There is some sparking action in the "head" of the robot. Mine sparks occassionally, but not consistently. When it works, it looks very neat through the colored lense in the faceplate.

I did not detect any plastic on the robot save for the colored lens; it appears to me that everything else is metal.

The only elements that betray this robots budget origins are the hands and the unpainted tabs above & below his chest panel. The hands are extremely primitive looking (although I personally like them), and the unpainted tabs in the front--although very small--is a detail not shared by the more expensive reproductions. Are these big deals? ABSOLUTELY NOT! This is a very affordable, classically styled robot that will get attention. Highly recommended for both the new collector and the old.
